Collingswood Police Foil Car Burglary, Recover Stolen Vehicle
Collingswood resident Evan Wallace, 18, was charged in the burglary and was remanded to county jail.

An open car door tipped off a Collingswood Police officer to a vehicle burglary in progress, and spared a lucky driver the hassle of being a victim.
At 3:30 a.m. on June 29, an officer on patrol in theΒ Heights of Collingswood noticed the door of a 2007 Chevrolet was ajar. The vehicle had beenΒ parked facing the White Horse Pike.
Upon closer inspection, the officer discovered 18-year-oldΒ Evan Wallace of Collingswood allegedly rooting around in the back seat of the car.Β

WallaceΒ was charged with burglary and third-degree theft. Unable to post 10 percent of hisΒ $7,500 bail, WallaceΒ was sent to the Camden CountyΒ correctional facility.
Just five days earlier, policeΒ recovered a 2001 GMCΒ that had been stolen from the "C" Tower at the Heights of Collingswood.Β

The vehicle had been located in theΒ 2100 block of E. Auburn Street in Philadelphia, unoccupied, and withΒ minimal damage to its steering column.
