Collingswood Police Remove Alleged Crack Dealer from Friend's Apartment

A man Collingswood police say was trading drugs in exchange for a place to stay soon turned into more than a friendly houseguest.

On August 29, police received a report from a resident at the Heights of Collingswood apartment complex that he wanted their help removing an unwanted person from his home. 

According to police, the resident had called up 27-year-old Cory Marshall back in May to buy some crack. 

When Marshall allegedly came over to deliver the drugs, he asked the resident whether he could stay at his apartment for a while.

The resident reportedly agreed, police say, and Marshall allegedly stayed for a week or two, trading drugs in exchange. Then after a month or so, Marshall refused to leave.

The resident then reportedly abandoned the property to live with his sister, and only contacted police when his family told him he needed to reclaim his apartment.

In late August, Police searched the apartment, which was vacant at the time, and allegedly uncovered a substantial amount of marijuana and crack-cocaine.

Maintenance workers changed the locks afterwards, and when Marshall tried to get a new key, he was arrested.

Marshall was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled, dangerous substance (CDS), second-degree possession of CDS with intent to distribute, fourth-degree possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a school zone.

He was also found to be in possession of victim’s credit card at the time of his arrest.

Marshall was remanded to the Camden County correctional facility on default of $66,500, full-cash bail.
