Collingswood Public Schools 2013 Awards

The Board of Education honored dozens of achievers in the district at its annual award presentation Tuesday.

Collingswood Board of Education honored its teachers of the year and acknowledged the accomplishments of several of its students in a district-wide ceremony prior to its May 2013 meeting.

Collingswood Outstanding Teachers of the Year

"These teachers are to be commended for the hard work and dedication they have given and continue to give to the Collingswood Public School District," said Board President James Hatzell.

Student Hero Award

Awarded to fifth graders Matthew Havens (Sharp) and Holden Correia-Fisher (Tatem) "for their outstanding act of courage under dangerous circumstances in helping to report a house fire."

PTA Reflections Contest

Presented to Flora Lutz-Velez (Zane North, grade 1) for her art work submission, “Penguins in a Snow Globe”, in the New Jersey State PTA Reflections Contest.

Green Team Grant Award

The Mark Newbie Green Team K-5 students were recognized "for their dedication and efforts to clean-up Cooper River and their involvement in the New Jersey Adopt a Bat program."

Odyssey of the Mind Award

Presented to the Zane North team that presented their Pet Project entry at the Odyssey of the Mind competition and won first place as Division 1 State Champions.

New Jersey Governor's Cyber Challenge

Quinn Heath, Grade 11, placed third of 1,000 competitors in the New Jersey Governor's Cyber Challenge, a statewide technology/computer competition.

New Jersey Art Educators Award

Lisa Winkler, CHS art teacher, was selected by the Executive Board of Art Educators of New Jersey as the recipient of the High School Division Art Award.
