Collingswood Schools Reopen Wednesday

Students will have a full day of school Oct. 31, and school-based Halloween activities will commence on Friday.

Collingswood Public Schools will reopen Wednesday, Oct. 31, for a regular, full-day schedule, according to an announcement on the school district website. All regularly scheduled, Halloween-related elementary-school activities will be postponed until Friday, Nov. 2.; on that day, elementary schools will follow their Halloween schedule.

The re-opening is not without its hiccups, however. Superintendent Scott Oswald said the district must address some facilities challenges, including rooms at Garfield Elementary that are without power. That outage may necessitate relocating students to another school until power can be restored, at which point parents would be notified.

As families in the borough—and staff throughout the region—continue to regather themselves in the wake of the storm, the school district expects that "this may lead to difficulty getting everyone to school" (and on time).
