1. PFLAG Collingswood: Mindful Witness: a Way of Authentically Connecting

Monday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m.—Collingswood Public Library

Bob Pileggi will present on the fundamental aspects of mindfulness, and how learning to be "more present to ourselves and the other person we’re speaking with" can help us "more compassionately and effectively say what we really mean, and how we can listen more effectively to others."

2. Collingswood Movie Club Presents: Slacker

Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.—Collingswood Public Library

Collingswood Movie Club is led by Patch cinema blogger Robert Castle, who hosts a monthly presentation and discussion of meaningful movies on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Collingswood Public Library.

This month's selection is the 1991 Richard Linklater film, Slacker. Castle describes it as "a seemingly plotless film that follows approximately 20 people (young and old) around Austin, TX, for 24 hours.

"Made for $50,000, Linklater's film catches the collective voice of an anonymous group of people with obsessions, conspiracy theories, and wild ramblings that have become the status quo of today's social network," Castle wrote in an email.

Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.—701 Stokes Ave.

Jim and Emily Angehr of Liberti Church Collingswood are offering "beer, brats, and nots" for "Christians, non-Christians, spiritual seekers, spiritual non-seekers, gourmets and gourmands."

"The 'nots' part of the evening means that we'll have non-beer and -brat options available for those wishing to lengthen their lifespans—and maybe chat a little about spirituality and service in our community," the announcement reads. "Come and go anytime."

4. Ladies Night at Frugal Resale

Friday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m.—Frugal Resale

Every fourth Friday of the month, Frugal Resale owner Morgan Robinson invites women to "grab a bottle and your girlfriends" for a B.Y.O.B., RSVP-only private shopping event. Featuring snacks from Casona of Collingswood and The Candy Jar, as well as a 20 percent storewide discount, it's a popular monthly affair.

5. Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Saturday, Dec. 1 from noon to 3 p.m.—Perkins Center for the Arts

For $10, purchase a handmade bowl and have it filled with soup or salad donated by local restaurants. Proceeds are split, 50-50, between the South Jersey Food Bank and the Perkins Center for the Arts scholarship program, which helps defray the cost of attending classes at the Center for students of need.
