Fly The Eagles Flag Or Lose Your Water, Collingswood Mayor Jokes
Mayor Jim Maley recently sent a letter to his neighbor joking that his water would be shut off if he didn't take his Patriots flag down.

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — If there’s one thing most football fans agree on — especially locally — it’s that they don’t want to see Tom Brady win another Super Bowl. In Collingswood, cheering for the Eagles in Super Bowl LII is a virtual requirement.
Collingswood Mayor Jim Maley recently had a bit of fun with his neighbor, a diehard Patriots fan, according to Social Media Director Cass Duffey, who posted the letter on the Borough of Collingswood’s Facebook page.So he sent that neighbor a letter, joking that anyone who flies a Patriots flag in Collingswood will have their water shut off.
“The Borough has recently adopted an Ordinance which strictly prohibits the flying of flags with any resemblance of a Colonial soldier or any reference to the love of Country exhibited by Colonial soldiers (e.g. as being a Patriot),” read the letter.

“We have been advised that you continue to fly this flag in violation of Borough Ordinances,” the letter continued. “In the event you do not immediately remove this flag, the Borough will be forced to shut off water to your house. We look forward to your removal of this eyesore from this wonderful neighborhood in the Borough.”
It is signed by Maley. The Facebook post is accompanied by the words “When you get it” with three laughing emojis and the hashtags #flyeaglefly #wemeanbusiness and #whyilovecollingswood.

Of course, there is no such borough ordinance, Duffey said. The letter is real, but it was meant as a joke.
"We would never turn off anyone's water unless they didn't pay their bill or something like that," Duffey said, adding that the neighbor played off the joke by saying they would dig their heels in even more. "(Maley) showed it to me and I said I thought it was funny, so I posted it."
The borough responded to a comment about Eagles flags being OK by writing “People with an Eagles flag get a tax reduction, obviously.” Other commenters tagged other members of the community and said, “They’re onto you” or “We’re in trouble.”
Another joked "Require them to fly Eagles flags instead, better yet, secretly replace them."
The Eagles play the Patriots in Super Bowl LII at U.S Bank Stadium in Minnesota on Sunday night, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m.
