New Restaurant Catches Fire, But Collingswood Eatery Plans To Reopen 'Soon'

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A new Collingswood restaurant has already faced unique adversity, with a fire breaking out Wednesday evening at Oba Mediterranean Grill. But the Turkish eatery will march on, with plans to reopen soon.

Multiple firefighting agencies responded to the Haddon Avenue blaze. Officials brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes, according to the Collingswood Fire Department.

Officials reported no injuries. And Oba Grill said Thursday that everyone is OK.

"Unfortunately we experienced a fire last night but everything is under control and everyone is safe," the restaurant's Facebook page says. "We will be reopening soon and will inform all of our followers."

Oba Grill opened recently, celebrating its grand opening March 8. The restaurant promises authentic Turkish cuisine, with a selection including kebabs, salads, falafel and seafood.
