Police Blotter: Holiday Shop(lift)ing

Shoplifting
At 10 a.m. Nov. 26, police were called to investigate a shoplifting incident at the Rite Aid pharmacy on Haddon Avenue. The suspect was described as a female wearing a black jacket and blue pants. Collingswood Police encountered a woman who matched that description walking along Lakeview Drive. She identified herself as Dana Owens, 48, of Collingswood.

Owens reported that prior to leaving the store, she had given about $47 worth of items back to the manager. She was detained on a shoplifting charge, and in the process, police discovered she was wanted for $350 in outstanding warrants. Owens was sent to the Camden County correctional facility in default of $500 full-cash bail for the alleged offense plus the warrants.

Shoplifting
At 5:30 p.m. Nov. 26, officers were dispatched to the Radio Shack on Route 130 for reports of a male shoplifter wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. The suspect allegedly removed a 24-inch LED television that had been a floor sample on display, and ran off in the direction of Camden City. Police have no leads at this time.

Vehicle Burglary
At 11 a.m. Nov. 25, police were dispatched to the unit block of Route 130 North to investigate the report of a vehicle burglary. The victim had parked her 1999 Volkswagen convertible in the Sagami parking lot while visiting her boyfriend on Bellevue Terrace. She returned to discover that unknown persons had sliced open the roof and ransacked the car. Her wallet, which contained her driver license, credit and debit cards, had been removed from a bag in the car. Police have no leads at this time.

Attempted Burglary
At 11 p.m. Nov. 22, police were dispatched to the 400 block of Richey Ave. to investigate a report of an attempted burglary. A green stained-glass window in the front door of the residence had been damaged, apparently by someone seeking to gain entry. She had checked for signs of a break-in prior to calling police, and discovered nothing. Police have no leads at this time.

Bicycle Theft
On Nov. 21, police were dispatched to the 800 block of Park Ave. to investigate the report of a stolen bicycle. The victim indicated that unknown persons had entered the rear yard of the residence and removed his unsecured BMX-style bike. The bicycle was described as having red and gold sprockets, and is reportedly valued at $1,200. Police have no leads at this time.

Theft of Service
At 3 a.m. on Nov. 17, police met with a Yellow Cab driver who had been dispatched to 13^th and Locust Streets in Philadelphia to pick up two passengers. When he dropped them off in the area of Haddon and West Collings avenues, they fled without paying the $30 fare. Police checked the area but couldn’t locate the suspects, who were described as a tall, thin male and a short, thin male.
