COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — The folk rock band America has been making music for more than 50 years, and are headed to Camden County for a two-night performance in February.

America was founded in the late 1960s by Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, along with the late Dan Peek. Their self-titled debut album produced the hit singles "A Horse With No Name" and "I Need You."

The band will play at Scottish Rite Auditorium (315 White Horse Pike, Collingswood) on Feb. 17 and 18, 2023. Tickets range from $59-$99. Doors open at 7 p.m. with shows at 8 p.m.

"America, Two Amazing Nights!" is presented by the Camden County Board of Commissioners in association with BRE Presents and the Borough of Collingswood, the county's event announcement states.

Tickets are available online at Ticketmaster or at the Scottish Rite Box Office (in-person or by phone at 856-858-1000).

Some of America's other best-known hits from 1970s Top 40 and FM rock radio include “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” and “Sister Golden Hair."

"Yet beyond their impressive catalog of hits, listeners would discover there was always much more to America than surface perceptions," the event announcement says. "The combination of Gerry Beckley’s melodic pop rock and Dewey Bunnell’s use of folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with Dan Peek’s more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics."

America is touring in the U.S. this winter, and returns to NJ in early March for shows in New Brunswick and Englewood.
