COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — A rock and roll legend has canceled his tour, including a show in Collingswood, because of ongoing health issues.

Dave Mason, a founder of classic rock band Traffic who performed with music legends throughout the decades, planned to tour the nation this summer. His schedule included an Aug. 8 show at Scottish Rite Auditorium.

But Mason, 79, announced Tuesday that all tour dates were canceled "due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I battled in March."

"A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents, and the venues who've waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey," he continued in a statement. "Your kind messages have lifted my spirits more than words can express."

Refunds for the Collingswood show will be available at the point of sale.

"We wish him a full and speedy recovery, and we thank you for your understanding," Scottish Rite Auditorium's website says.

Mason rose to fame in 1967 as a founding member of Traffic, singing some of the progressive rock band's most famous songs. He later went onto a solo career and became a session musician, recording for George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and other big names.

In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of traffic.

Mason postponed his 2024 tour after a serious heart condition discovered during a routine checkup. The singer and guitarist released an album in March but canceled a spring tour.
