CAMDEN, NJ — A Camden man will spend decades in jail after being convicted of the sexual assault of an Atlantic City hotel housekeeper in 2020, officials said.

An Atlantic County jury convicted Kye Hardison, 35, of sexual assault, burglary and aggravated sexual assault last September. Judge William Todd Miller agreed that an extended sentence was warranted, and sentenced him to 54 years in prison. Related article — Man Convicted In Sex Assault Of Atlantic City Hotel Housekeeper

"On the first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault charge, an ordinary term of imprisonment is between 10-20 years," the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. "However, due to Hardison’s extensive criminal history, and the particularly egregious nature of this sexual assault, the State sought an extended prison term at the time of sentencing."

Breaking AC reports that Hardison was on probation for two cases in Camden surrounding threats and drugs at the time of the July 2020 attack. He also had two arrests in 2022, including violating a domestic violence restraining order twice, the outlet added.

Hardison is not eligible for parole until 85 percent of the 54-year sentence is served, the prosecutor's office said. Upon release, he would be subject to Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life.
