Story Walk, Second Saturday: Five Things for This Week

Plus: library summer programs, a Collings-Knight event on Gloucester City and the monthly meeting of the borough commissioners.

1. Collingswood Commissioners Meeting

The Dig Into Reading free summer library programs feature age-appropriate stories, crafts and snacks for children from toddlerhood through elementary school.

Childdren aged 3 through 5 years will enjoy the "Sprouts" program, which is held on Thursdays from 8 to 10 a.m. July 11, 18, 25, and August 1 and 8.

For children entering kindergarten through second grades, the "Burrowers" series explores "all things underground" with stories and crafts at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays in July (10, 17, 24, 31).

"Questers" in third through fifth grades should check out the July 11 "Dig Into the Past-Ancient Egypt" event and the "Just Dig It-In the Garden" event July 18, both at 4 p.m.

3. Collings-Knight House Event

"Meet the authors of Gloucester City, the latest local book in Arcadia's Images of America series. Following the presentation, you may buy a book (or bring your own) for signing by the authors."

4. Story Walk

Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m.—Knight Park

Brought to you by the organizers of the Collingswood Book Festival, StoryWalk "posts children's books, one page at a time, along walking paths, storefront windows and hiking trails." Designed to excite children about reading, the inaugural Story Walk features the book Wolf's Coming by Joe Kulka and begins at the castle in the children's playground.

5. Second Saturday

Saturday, June 8, 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The monthly celebration of arts and music in the borough kicks off with events throughout town. Whether it's the sounds of Gippy Henry at Groovegroundor a party with the Frank Cervantes Band at The Factory, there's always something to see and do.
