Vehicle Thieves, Burglars Target Collingswood Cars

Two vehicles were stolen in the past few weeks, with someone attempting to pick off a third as well. Police have no suspects yet.

The familiar refrain from Collingswood Police—lock your cars, lock your cars, Lord have mercy, please lock your cars—would seem to take on even more weight in the borough this month.

Authorities reported a pair of vehicle thefts and attempts on a third in the past few weeks, with a fourth resident losing an inspection sticker in a car break-in.

During the overnight hours of March 5, someone attempted to steal an unsecured Honda Civic parked in front of a residence in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue. That same night, a resident in the 100 block of Linden Avenue reported that his Honda Accord had been stolen.

The scenes of all four incidents were processed for physical evidence, but police have no suspects at this time. Neither of the stolen vehicles has been recovered.

Hondas were targeted in all four cases, and that's not uncommon. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau "Hot Wheels" report, the top two models stolen in New Jersey are the 1994 Accord and 1997 Civic.

Anyone with any information about these incidents is asked to call the borough police department at (856) 854-1901.
