COLLINGSWOOD, NJ — New Jersey’s Primary Election is Tuesday, June 7.

Below, find some important dates and times for those casting ballots for an election taking place in Garden State in 2022.

  • May 17 – this is the last day one can register to vote in the 2022 New Jersey primary.
  • May 31 – this is the last day one can apply for a Mail-In Ballot by Mail.
  • June 2 – this is the last day for applications to receive primary election mail-in ballots by electronic means for qualified overseas civilian and military voters.
  • June 3 through June 5 – this is the in-person early voting period for the Primary Election. The hours on Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
  • June 6 (by 3 p.m.) – this is the deadline for in-person mail-in ballot applications for the Primary Election.
  • June 7 – Voters head to the polls to cast their ballots. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day.

If you are voting by paper ballot, you may use a Ballot Drop Box to send your ballot to the appropriate offices.

These boxes are “secure, locked structure[s] operated by election officials where voters may deliver their ballots from the time they receive them in the mail up to the time polls close at 8 pm on Election Day,” according to the New Jersey Department of State.

Security cameras are aimed at each Ballot Drop Box and its contents are collected daily by county election officials, the New Jersey Department of State added. If you are unsure of what one looks like, a picture of what one looks like can be found below:
