Cranford Hosts National Day of Service Event Saturday

"It’s really important that the people of Cranford realize the perilous situation that is developing and come out and support this effort," VFW Chairman, Joe Del Grippo said in a statement.

Cranford joins the national Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service with a blood drive at the VFW Post 335. The event is sponsored by the Blood Center of N.J. and takes place from 9:30a.m. - 3p.m.

"Since Hurricane Sandy, there has been an extreme shortage of blood donations across the state of New Jersey," another statement on the National Day of Service website said.

According to event organizers, every donor will receive a $10 ShopRite card. Now, isn't that better than a cookie? 

The VFW building is located at 479 South Avenue East in Cranford.
