Cranford Soccer to Face Rival Scotch Plains in County Final

The girls team upends Westfield to reach championship.

The Cranford girls soccer team continued their streak on Saturday night, defeating Westfield, 3-1, to bring them to the final round of the county tournament where they will face rival Scotch Plains.

The girls remember a county game against Scotch Plains all too well from last year.  They were met with a disheartening loss against Scotch Plains in the semifinals of last year’s tournament and have used that loss to motivate them throughout this season.

“We still talk about last year’s loss… we use that as motivation and fuel,” Co-Captain Ana DiGiovanni said in a previous interview.

The Girls lost in double over time that game.

Now, the ladies will face Scotch Plains in the final round of the tournament on Oct. 27 at Kean University at 7 p.m. The team is currently 13-0.
