Girls Soccer Falls Short to Scotch Plains for County Title

The Cranford Cougars lost to Scotch Plains on Sunday at Kean University.

After facing a disheartening loss against the Scotch Plains Raiders in last year’s semi-finals, the Cougars were determined to win in Sunday’s finals, but unfortunately the team fell short, 0-1.

The Girls Soccer team went into the tournament for the county title with an undefeated record of 15-0, while the Raiders also went in with an undefeated record.

The Scotch Plains girls varsity team has seen the UCT final every year since 2005, and has won or tied every year except for a 2009 loss to Cranford. This is the team's fourth straight title.

Many of the Cranford Cougars are seniors this year and coach Jen Michewicz said next season will be a rebuilding year.
