Centennial Avenue Paving Begins Monday

Milling on Centennial Avenue is complete and the road will begin to get paved by the county starting on Monday.

Portions of Centennial Avenue from North Avenue to Lincoln Avenue and Raritan Road to Wall Street will be closed each day from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for road resurfacing by the County of Union. As of Thursday, milling had been completed on the planned portions of Centennial.

The project began on Sept. 30, but is expected to take 10 days total, excluding weekends.

Clearly marked detours and Union County forces will direct traffic around the roadwork, which will take place in sections throughout the 10-day period.

Due to the amount of men and machinery required to complete the work, the portions of road must remained closed during these times, Cranford Police said in a Nixle alert. 

“Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, will be allowed as much as possible,” the alert stated. “Police officers will be on hand to assist during these times.”
