Union County College Hosts 'Women in STEM Expo'

CRANFORD, NJ – Union County College offered a free set of classes, called “Women in STEM Expo,” on careers and experiences in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) major on October 10, 2016 at the College’s Cranford campus. The day’s programs were made possible with support from the Union County Office on Women, Department of Human Services.

Union County Freeholder Chairman Bruce Bergen and Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski visited the Cranford campus for the first event, “Women in Engineering,” to learn more about the advances in the printing field and how 3D printing technology works. They went on to observe the additional two events of the afternoon.

The second event, “Chemistry Expo,” was led by current Union students who ran experiments in the lab for attendees to observe. The final workshop for the day was run by the College’s Biology Club. Their event was titled, “Biology Expo,” and attendees could participate in activities that involved questions about being a biology major.
