  • Full Road Closure: All through lanes on Summerhill Road will be closed around the clock. The closure begins immediately after the municipal building, before the railroad tracks. Motorists should plan alternate routes through Friday morning.
  • Southbound Traffic: Vehicles traveling south on Summerhill Road will detour via Old Stage Road, either eastbound or westbound, with an additional detour at Vaughn Avenue. School traffic will maintain access to the high school and Memorial School through this route.
  • Northbound Traffic: Drivers heading north from Main Street will not be permitted to turn onto Summerhill Road. Detours will redirect traffic down Main Street into East Brunswick and up to Old Stage Road, or via Snowhill Street to Brunswick Avenue to Old Stage Road.
  • Local Access: Residents and businesses on Summerhill Road can still reach schools, homes, side streets and commercial properties up to the work zone. However, the closure spans the full width of the roadway, preventing any vehicles from passing through the rail crossing site.

Officials acknowledge that Summerhill Road carries thousands of vehicles daily and anticipate delays during peak travel and school hours. Motorists are urged to adjust schedules, allow extra time and exercise patience during the project.

Police officers will monitor traffic flow, enforce safe driving practices and watch for drivers attempting to bypass detours on local streets.
