East Brunswick Declares Nov. 25 As Small Biz Saturday In The Township
The township is encouraging residents to help the local economy by shopping and dining locally this holiday weekend.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Thanksgiving is almost here and so is the biggest shopping weekend of the holiday season.
While retail giants are looking forward to big profits this Black Friday, the less heralded Small Business Saturday is also gearing up to welcome local customers.
To encourage residents to shop locally, East Brunswick Mayor Brad Cohen issued a Mayoral Proclamation, declaring Nov. 25 as Small Business Saturday in the township.

In the proclamation, Cohen and the Council urged “residents of our community, and communities across the country, to support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year."
Small Business Saturday allows local businesses to network with the community and helps the local economy thrive.

According to a recent survey conducted by American Express, over the past 13 years, consumers have reported spending $184 billion during Small Business Saturday. Last year, 72 percent of shoppers said that the small biz Saturday campaign made them want to shop and dine small at independent retailers.
According to the US Small Business Association, there are 33 million small businesses in the USA, representing 99.7 percent of all firms with paid employees. And from the years 2000 to 2019, small businesses provided 65.1 percent of net new jobs.
