With Snow Expected Friday, Parking Ordinance Takes Effect In East Brunswick
According to the ordinance parking is not allowed any street, avenue or highway during a snow event.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – With a snow storm expected to hit New Jersey on Friday, a parking ordinance takes effect in East Brunswick.
The ordinance (Ordinance 209-31) prohibits residents from parking their vehicles on any street, avenue, or highway in town, the police department has reminded residents.
This is done to ensure the Public Works Department can safely plow snow from the roads and parked cars do not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.

“Please ensure your vehicles are removed from the street so Public Works personnel can properly plow the roadways. During snow storms, priority is given to opening main roads to provide safe access for emergency vehicles and maintain safe travel for motorists. Plows will continue to clear all streets until every road is safe to travel. Please do not blow snow onto roadways, as this creates hazardous road conditions,” the police department said.
Residents and business owners should also remove all snow and ice from the sidewalks.

Ice and snow from vehicles should also be removed before driving, especially from the hood, windows and roofs.
Motorists who fail to do so will be fined $25 to $75 for each offense.
“If flying ice or snow causes property damage or injury to others, motorists face fines of $200 to $1,000 for each offense,” the police department said.
“There are approximately 500 fatalities in the United States per year due to icy road conditions.”
The winter storm is expected to bring up to 6 inches of snow in parts of the state, treacherous driving conditions and possible school closures.
"This will be a colder storm than most have grown accustomed to in much of the Midwest and the Northeast in that the lower ground and air temperatures combined with the fluffy or grainy nature of the snow will quickly accumulate on streets and highways," AccuWeather meteorologists said.
A winter weather advisory is in place for East Brunswick with the National Weather Service predicting total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in the township.
A hazardous weather outlook is also in place as snow and/or sleet accumulation may result in significant travel disruptions on Friday, the NSW said.
