MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Heavy rains lashed through Middlesex County overnight Tuesday as officials and authorities dealt with flooding and road closures in several towns.
Here's how much rain fell in Middlesex County overnight, according to the National Weather Service:
- Plainsboro Twp: 3.80 inches
- South River: 3.70 inches
- Monroe: 3.50 inches
- Sayreville: 3.32 inches
- Milltown: 3.14 inches
- East Brunswick: 2.83 inches
- New Brunswick: 2.67 inches
- Old Bridge: 2.63 inches
- Highland Park: 2.56 inches
- New Brunswick: 2.53 inches
- Woodbridge: 2.53 inches
- Jamesburg: 2.18 inches
- Spotswood: 2.17 inches
More rain is in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.

"The potential for excessive rainfall continues into Friday with river flooding concerns increasing for the weekend and into early next week," the National Weather Service said.

- Thursday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 76. East wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 72. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Friday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 83. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
- Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2am, then showers likely. Low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
- Saturday: A chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
