Middlesex Co. Dalmatian Named Runner-Up At National Dog Show 2023
Although she did not land the top prize, Pumpkin the Dalmatian charmed the judges and viewers, winning the No.2 spot.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Stache, a Sealyham terrier charmed his way to the top prize at this year’s National Dog Show. But Middlesex County’s Pumpkin almost carved out a big win!
During the Thanksgiving show on NBC, 3-year-old Stache was announced the winner beating six other finalists at the annual canine competition.
Pumpkin, a Dalmatian owned by Barbara Kaplan-Barrett and Dr. Edward Barret of Milltown was named runner-up or Reserve Best in Show and Non-Sporting Group Winner.

During the show, 4-year-old Pumpkin was handled by Michael Scott of Chesapeake City, Maryland.
She is currently the No. 1 Dalmatian in breed and No. 2 in all-breed.

“The powerful-moving female exudes endurance and tenacity, qualities that have taken her to five Bests in Show with limited showing,” the National Dog Show organizers said in a media release.
Pumpkin also won Best of Breed this year at the Dalmatian Club of America National Specialty.
Around 2,000 dogs from across more than 200 breeds and varieties competed in this year’s event held in Philadelphia.
The annual canine competition is hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia and broadcast by NBC on Thanksgiving Day.
