Rita’s Ice Planning New Store In East Brunswick

Mid-State Mall has filed an application with the Township's Planning Board

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – Pennsylvania-based Rita’s Ice is planning a new outlet in East Brunswick.

Mid-State Mall has filed an application with the Township’s Planning Board seeking minor site plan modification and variance approval to lease a property to Rita’s Ice.

Minor site changes proposed in the application include additional parking and an outdoor patio. There is no indoor seating.

The proposed hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and reduced hours are typically from Nov. 1 to Feb. 28. Up to three employees are expected to be in the store during peak hours, according to public documents.

The vacant spot Rita’s is proposed to occupy was initially the site of the New York Sports Club. Rita’s will occupy around 1,667 square feet of the original space.

The Township’s Planning Board is expected to hear the application on Jan. 24.
