EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A flood watch and hazardous weather outlook have been issued for East Brunswick, as heavy rains are predicted to slam the township Tuesday night into Wednesday.
The watch is in effect through 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service(NWS).
"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas," according to NWS.

Heavy rain and a few thunderstorms will continue into Tuesday evening with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour expected.

Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog after 2 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thursday: Patchy fog before 8 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 78. North wind around 10 mph.
