Star Students Co-Author Book On Sustainability In East Brunswick
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here are local residents having an impact in East Brunswick.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Kathryn who nominated Daivik and Shrenik of East Brunswick. Kathryn is a mentor to Daivik and Shrenik and also co-authored a book with them.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Two exceptional East Brunswick High School Seniors, Daivik and Shrenik, have gone above and beyond their academic requirements by co-authoring a book to address unsustainable practices in the public school system and beyond.
East Brunswick Township and Public Schools should be beaming with pride that two of their very own students have taken the initiative to address a major societal crisis. Being able to create such a work exemplifies the academic excellence of the school system and works to wholistically heal areas in the school system that need attention. I am honored to have worked as their mentor and co-author on this endeavor.
This book is a much-needed guide that describes the issue of unsustainable practices and coins a vocabulary that can be used to begin essential discussions and reform by making Sustainability a quantifiable science. I am thrilled to be facilitating a multi-generational approach so that Sustainable practices come to the forefront of societal habits.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
It is truly magnificent that at East Brunswick High School when these students had an intolerable frustration with the hypocrisy of global destruction perpetuated at school lunch service, they do not become violent nor disenfranchised, rather they followed the exact path to a successful resolution. In this situation, Shenik and Daivik collaborated with a local resident environment expert, and met on their free time, out-of-school, diligently for over a year to create a well-researched and ground-breaking document that belongs in the NJ school curriculum. The authors put into practice the disciplines of expository writing, science, social studies, civics and math for the purpose of resolving a societal crisis exacerbated daily by the school system.
This is exactly the model of reform and proper behaviors to address grievances. Too often, students and young children are shown through the media only the wrong way to act. This manual and all the effort put forth into it, models the proper way to solve frustrations and grievances and needs to be broadly publicized. Students and society need this positive reinforcement.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Daivik and Shrenik!
