East Windsor Obituary: Connie Birdsall, 90

Connie Birdsall, 90, of East Windsor and formerly of Sweetwater, Hammonton, NJ died Thursday at her residence. Born in Philadelphia she lived in Sweetwater for 52 years before moving to East Windsor 15 years ago.

Birdsall gave guided tours of Batsto Village from 1958 through 1965. She was the postmistress of the Batsto Post Office in Batsto Village from 1966 through 1991. She was a member of the Parent Teachers Association. Birdsall was a former secretary of the Republican Club. She and her husband Clyde R. Birdsall were founders of the Sweetwater Fire Company. They owned and operated "Birdsall's General Store" in Sweetwater where they resided. Both she and her husband were very civic minded and helpful in establishing the community of Sweetwater.

Birdsall is survived by her daughter, Linda Mayer and her husband Joseph Mayer of East Windsor. Relatives and friends are invited to attended funeral services Wednesday 11:30 a.m. at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton, where a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery, Hammonton.
