Nupur has cultivated this centuries-old practice bridging heritage and contemporary expression. Working in paper, canvas, clay, glass, wood, aluminum and digital media, Nupur translates Mithila art into contemporary formats, fusing traditional motifs and modern themes creating works of cultural depth and global resonance. A pioneer in contemporary Mithila art, Nupur fuses intricate traditional motifs with modern themes, creating works of cultural depth and global resonance. Her notable works include Dheeya (The Girl Child), recognized at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (2016) by a MoMA curator, and her hand-painted piano for Sing for Hope, displayed at Central Park, Liberty Plaza, and the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. She has received Honorable Mentions at the Smithsonian traveling show at Monmouth Museum (2025) and Watchung Art Center, NJ. Founder of Creative Mithila LLC , Nupur is also a mentor, curator, and cultural advocate, advancing Mithila art as a living, global tradition.
