Atlantic City High School On Lockdown
All students and staff are safe, but parents asked to stay away from school, police say

ATLANTIC CITY - Atlantic City High School is on lockdown due to an active police investigation, according to a Twitter post from the police department.
Although all students and faculty members are safe, parents are asked not to call the school or 911 right now.
"Parents please do not come to ACHS," a later Twitter post says. "You will be turned away. All students and faculty are safe."

Police were already at the high school in advance of the school's participation in the national school walkout Wednesday to protest gun violence, he said.
About 20 police cars were on the scene around 10 a.m. Wednesday, including Atlantic City police and New Jersey State Police.
The walkout was canceled due to the lockdown. Caldwell said the names of the 17 students will be read over the school's loudspeaker system instead.
All students will still be dismissed on their school bus and all after-school activities are canceled, according to the police department's latest Twitter post.
"We are still conducting our precautionary investigation," the post states. "All after school activities and sports are canceled. All students and faculty are safe."
