Atlantic City Woman Charged With Assaulting Baby In Her Care
Lisa Henderson claimed the child fell off a bed, not enough to cause the injuries, Prosecutor says

MAYS LANDING- An Atlantic City woman has been charged with the aggravated assault of a one-year old boy after he was brought to the hospital with a significant head injury, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.
Lisa Henderson, 55, was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the Nov. 30, 2017 incident, which occurred at her home. Henderson was the child's babysitter and was operating an unlicensed daycare facility, Tyner said.
The baby was first taken to AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Cooper University Hospital. An investigation by the Atlantic City police department and the Prosecutor's Office determined that the baby suffered from a brain bleed and needed emergency medical treatment, he said.

Medical reports found that the child had a fracture of his right coronal suture, a large subdural hematoma, a cervical spine injury and retinal hemorrhages, Tyner said.
"This was classified as a near fatal injury," he said. "Medical reports also indicate that a short household fall does not explain these injuries."

Henderson - who was watching several children at the time - told police that the boy fell from a 23-inch high bed, had a seizure and lost consciousness, Tyner said.
The child was released from the hospital. Henderson was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. She was taken to the Atlantic County Jail on March 6, 2018, he said.
