Galloway Man Convicted In 2019 Atlantic City Murder

Shamar Scott, 29, was found guilty on all charges in the 2019 shooting death of Demond Tally in Atlantic City.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man was found guilty in the 2019 murder of Demond Tally in Atlantic City, authorities said.

After a multi-week trial, the jury found that Shamar Scott, 29, was guilty on all charges, including murder and weapons offenses, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Atlantic City Police Department responded to ShotSpotter at 5:13 a.m., on Feb. 10, 2019 in the area of Presbyterian Avenue, in Atlantic City, where Tally, 45, was found shot. Tally was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus Trauma Unit, where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Scott was charged with murder in 2021.

Additionally, Steven Martinez and Deshawn Hose are also charged with participating in the conspiracy to murder Tally. Those cases are pending trial.

Scott will be sentenced on May 5. He faces 30 years without parole to life imprisonment.
