Galloway Man Gets Decades In Prison For 2019 Murder

Shamar Scott, 29, will spend years in prison for the 2019 murder of Demond Tally, 45, in Atlantic City.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway man was sentenced to 45 years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2019 murder of Demond Tally in Atlantic City, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.

Shamar Scott, 29, was found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose by a jury back in March. Following the verdict, due to Scott's prior criminal convictions and being that he was prohibited from possessing weapons, the judge also found Scott guilty of second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons.

The Atlantic City Police Department responded to ShotSpotter at 5:13 a.m., on Feb. 10, 2019 in the area of Presbyterian Avenue, in Atlantic City, where Tally, 45, was found shot. Tally was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus Trauma Unit, where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.
