Galloway Police Charge Man With Drunk Driving After Crash

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Galloway police have charged an area man with drunk driving after he lost control of his Ford Ranger on Sunday night, overturned and struck a guardrail, Officer Ronald Gorneau of the police department's traffic safety unit said.
Police responded to the area of Duerer Street and Berlin Avenue at 8 p.m. on March 4.
They found that Melvin C. Taylor, 58, Egg Harbor City, lost control of his 2003 Ford Ranger while traveling eastbound on Duerer Street and struck a guardrail. The truck overturned and came to rest on its roof in the middle of the roadway.

Taylor was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses, Gorneau said.
He was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Egg Harbor City and Germania fire departments. Taylor was taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, by the Galloway Township First Aid Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics with non-life threatening injuries.

Duerer Street was closed for approximately one hour between Berlin and Frankfurt Avenues, Gorneau said.
