Man Who Killed Galloway Woman Will Get 10 Years In State Prison

Darren Winningham pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Nikita Cross, 35.

MOUNT HOLLY - A Riverside Township man pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter recently in the fatal shooting of a woman at a party in his home in April 2016.

Darren Winningham, 44, will sentenced to 10 years in state prison for the April 23, 2016 for the death of Nikita Cross, 35, Galloway Township, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina said.

Area police officers responded to a report of a subject with a gun that night at a party inside an apartment in the 200 block of Hooker Street in Riverside Township. Officers found the victim on the floor with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was transported by the Delran Emergency Squad to Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro, where she was pronounced dead.

Winningham was taken into custody without incident, and has been lodged in the Burlington County Jail since his arrest.

Burlington County Superior Court Judge Terrence R. Cook set Winningham's sentencing for April 27.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Bob VanGilst, supervisor of the BCPO
Major Crimes Unit. The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Burlington County
Prosecutor’s Office and the Riverside Police Department.
