Retired Atlantic City Police Sergeant Killed In Crash: Police

A retired Atlantic City Police sergeant died Thursday after his motorcycle collided with a truck in Egg Harbor Township, officials said.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — A retired Atlantic City police sergeant was killed Thursday in a motor vehicle accident in Egg Harbor Township, officials said.

Joseph Falcone, 54, of Egg Harbor Township, was travelling west on a motorcycle on Zion Road at 11:45 a.m. when a 39-year-old township resident driving a 2012 Ford F450 attempted to make a left turn onto Central Avenue and crossed into Falcone's path, Egg Harbor Township police said.

Falcone sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Atlantic City Police Department said in a statement that Falcone was a retired sergeant with the department.

“The men and women of the Atlantic City Police Department mourn the loss of retired Sergeant Joseph Falcone,” the statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Stacey, an Atlantic City police sergeant, and their children.”

No other injuries were reported in the crash. Zion Road was detoured for about three hours as authorities investigated the scene.

The crash is still under investigation, police said.
