Newlyweds Killed In Wrong-Way South Jersey Crash: Police
Thomas Splinter and Nancy Orellana-Splinter were killed in a crash over the weekend. They had just gotten married in September, friends say.
MAYS LANDING, NJ — A newlywed couple from Mays Landing had just started their lives together when they were killed in a wrong-way crash in Cumberland County, according to friends and police.
Thomas Splinter, 57, and Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, died early Sunday when a driver crossed the center line and hit their car head-on in Maurice River, police told Patch. Read more: Wrong-Way Crash Kills 2, Injures 1 In South Jersey: Police
The couple had gotten married in September of 2024, a friend wrote in a GoFundMe.

"Tom and Nance were a wonderful couple who were always there for each other and their friends and family, no matter what," the friend said. "They were the type of couple who hosted Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas parties in their home and spread the love they had with everyone."
Splinter was a father of three, while Orellana-Splinter had a young son, according to the fundraiser.

As of Wednesday morning, the fundraiser had reached just over $3,000 out of a $20,000 goal.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Orellana-Splinter's son and the family
