New Future for Old Sylvester's Property May be on the Horizon

Taking a look ahead at the new week, the Planning Board is expected to hear an application for plans for the old Sylvester's Restaurant property on Terrace Avenue. This news and more is expected on Patch this week.

A new future for the old Sylvester’s property may begin this week as an application concerning the former restaurant location is to be reviewed by the Planning Board this week.

The Terrace Avenue property has been vacant for quite some time. The former restaurant building which shows visible signs of wear and tear still stands.

The location has been in the borough’s master plan which the Planning Board re-examined last spring. Decades before it was Sylvester's the location was home to the Old Homestead Restaurant.

Discussion regarding a proposal for a hotel at the Route 17 location at Ottawa Avenue is also expected to be heard by the Planning Board on Thursday, according to Planning Board secretary Dorothy Bernice.
