Meet 'Freaky Friday' Author Mary Rodgers at the Library
Mary Rodgers, author of "Freaky Friday" and daughter of composer Richard Rodgers of American composer duo Rodgers & Hammerstein, will be at the library Friday afternoon for this special event surrounding the anniversary of her book.

Friday is finally here. ‘Freaky Friday’ that is. The has a full schedule of events planned to celebrate the classic children’s book “Freaky Friday” complete with a visit from esteemed writer Mary Rodgers which will be followed by a reception and two movie screenings.
The Junior Friends of the Library have planned this free celebration event in honor of the book’s 40th anniversary. Rodgers who is also a well-known lyricist and screenwriter will read an excerpt from “Freaky Friday” and sign copies of her book on this Friday the 13th. Some of the other works she is most known for include the musicals “Once Upon a Mattress,” “A to Z,” “The Mad Show” and “Working.” She is also the daughter of Richard Rodgers of the American composer duo Rodgers & Hammerstein.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. beginning with the reading and book signing. Hasbrouck Heights Pizza has provided the food for the 4 p.m. reception.

Afterwards the library will screen both movies versions of “Freaky Friday.” The original 1976 film, of which Rodgers also wrote the screenplay, which starred Jodie Foster, will be shown at 5 p.m. It will be followed by the 2003 remake starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
“Freaky Friday,” which is about a young girl and her mother who switch bodies, is among her most notable children’s works and Rodgers has accepted the library’s invitation to visit with the community and read an excerpt from the book which will be followed by a book signing and welcome reception in her honor.
