Sassy Heights Mom Gets Makeover on Rachael Ray

It’s not everyday one gets to live out a dream. This week, thanks to her loving and supportive kids, Heights mom Darlene Collorone is going to appear on national TV as she gets a Sassy Mom Makeover on ABC’s The Rachael Ray Show.

When viewers tune in to watch this Friday they will see Collorone get a sophisticated makeover by stylist Kyan Douglas and the audience will vote for the wardrobe they like best.

The 49-year old says her kids, Richard and Alison, love her very much but sometimes they get a bit freaked out by her wardrobe of short skirts and high boots.  

“I got two great kids,” she says. “My children make me what I am.”

Getting her on the show was her son Richard’s idea. The 24-year old says he wasn’t too thrilled with the way his mom dresses and he also hoped he could help her to live out one of her dreams by getting her on television.

He sent the show a note along with some photographs and heard back immediately.

Collorone says she doesn’t dress to show off or impress others, she does it for herself as it makes her feel good. She takes good care of herself by eating right and says age has been good to her. She takes a lot of pride in her how she looks and says she’s had nothing done cosmetically.

Collorone has been living in the borough throughout her life and really loves this town. Viewers will be able to see some of Hasbrouck Heights on the show as the film crew came into town last Fall to do some of the taping at their home. Richard Collorone says viewers should be able to see some shots of Walter Avenue.  

Richard says being part of the show was a really great experience. “It was a lot of fun. The people were great. Sitting in the audience and hearing people clap gives you kind of a rush,” said Richard.  He and his sister Alison can be seen in the audience during the program.

To see the results of Darlene’s makeover, tune in to ABC, channel 7, on Friday, June 29 at 10 a.m.
