Sidewalk Work Begins, Back to School Update This Week
This week readers can expect to see updates about the Boulevard Streetscape construction work which begins this week and updates from the Board of Ed as they prepare for the new school year.

Coming up this week on Patch
The old sidewalks along the Boulevard from Jefferson up to Hamilton avenues will begin to be torn up this week as the streetscape project gets into full work mode.
Patch will bring readers updates as the project continues to get underway. Businesses along that route will be open during this time, according to the borough engineer who gave an last week. It is expected that parking will not be permitted in that area while work is being done.

This section of the Boulevard represents phases three and four of an ongoing project to revitalize the borough’s downtown shopping area. The area from Washington up to Jefferson was completed about two years ago.
The Boulevard was partially closed off for two days last week as workers came into tear down the trees for this section of the Boulevard. New trees will be planted when the project is completed.

This project is being funded by state Department of Transporation grants. The borough has received roughly $150,000 towards each phase of the construction. Monies toward phase five, Hamilton up to Walter, have already been received from the state. The borough has plans to apply for a grant to fund a sixth phase Walter to Division.
Also this week the Board of Education is expected to move ahead with business needed to prepare for the upcoming school year when members meet for the public meeting Thursday night.
