Hoboken Assault Suspect Taken In By SWAT Team Identified
A man assaulted a victim in Hoboken on Wednesday and then barricaded himself in an apartment, drawing the SWAT Team, police said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police have identified a man who they say assaulted someone Wednesday, then barricaded himself in an apartment — drawing a response from the SWAT Team.
Haraldginal Cooper, 40, of Hoboken, was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of weapons, and possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, police said Thursday.
Police said that shortly before noon on Wednesday, Cooper "hit a maintenance worker in the back of the head with an unidentified object, and then ran back into an apartment, barricading himself inside."

The victim was treated on the scene by Hoboken EMS and then transported to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment, police said.
The Jersey City Medical Center Mobile Crisis and Hudson County Regional SWAT teams responded to assist.

At approximately 3:05 p.m., Cooper left the apartment and was taken to Hoboken Police Headquarters. Police found that he already had an outstanding warrant for assault, they said.
After he was charged, he was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
