Assistance for Irene Victims; Hoboken Shelter Looks For Help
Division of Welfare will be at the Multi Service Center on Wednesday Sept. 14.

Those who suffered from Hurricane Irene and are not currently on food stamps can go to the Multi Service Center on Wednesday, when the Hudson County Division of Welfare will be there to distribute Disaster Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program Food Stamps (A-L: from 9 a.m. to noon, and M-Z 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
This program is not for existing recipients of food stamps. This a one-time payment on an ATM-like card that can be used at grocery stores for certain food purchases.
Applicants must bring their photo identification, proof of income, & proof of Hoboken residency. The Hoboken Shelter, meanwhile, is calling on Hobokenites for help.
The shelter is very short on toilet paper, cups, paper plates and napkins. Residents may bring donated items to the shelter, 300 Bloomfield St., from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.
