Council Approves $3M Capital Improvement Bond
After pleas from the Police Chief and the Environmental Services Director.

The city council approved a roughly $3 million bond on Wednesday night, which will be used for capital improvements for several city departments.
"I'm here again asking that this bond ordinance will go through," Falco said, "it'll certainly help me with renovations in the police department."
The bond passed in a 6-1 vote, with Michael Russo voting against. Councilwoman Beth Mason and Councilman Tim Occhipinti weren't present for the vote.

Among the things the police department needs is a new phone system. The current system is old and doesn't work well, Falco said.
"I can’t imagine how we can not do these upgrades at this time," said Councilman David Mello.

Finance Director Nick Tresante told the council that the city will not go out to bond for the full amount immediately, but that the money will be borrowed on an as needed basis.
