Councilman Speaks Out Against Proposed Fare and Toll Hike

David Mello, councilman-at-large on Hoboken's city council, attended a public meeting hosted by the Port Authority on Tuesday morning.

Councilman David Mello is now among the politicians who have expressed their outrage and opposition to the proposed Port Authority toll and fare hikes.

Mello attended one of the meetings morning and expressed his concerns about the increase, which could mean that a single PATH ride will cost $2.75.

Mello's comments were caught on video, and posted by the councilman.

Mello said he urged Gov. Chris Christie to veto any fare or toll hike.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer, U.S. Senators Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez and Assemblyman Ruben Ramos Jr. are also opposed to the hike.
