Drunk Driver Causes Three-Car Accident on 14th Street Viaduct in Hoboken

A drunk driver caused a three-car pile up by the 14th Street viaduct last Thursday, Hoboken police said.

Orlando Cruz, 21, from Union City was arrested after he allegedly drove, under the influence of alcohol, his vehicle into two cars, police said.

After he drove into the other two cars—both were damaged—the cars were spread over the road, all facing different directions, police said.

When police questioned Cruz, they smelled a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath, according to the police report.

After failing a sobriety test, Cruz was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as reckless driving, police said.
