High School Coach Appointed To Hoboken Housing Authority

Judith Burrell is the governor's newest employee.

Judith Burrell, the long time coach of the Hoboken High Track and Field team, was appointed to the Hoboken Housing Authority by Gov. Chris Christie late last week.

Burrell, 47, has worked for the school district for 24 years.

She said she wants to make the Housing Authority a safe haven for high school students. There used to be so much going on for them, Burrell said, "I think we can bring it back, that's what I'm hoping to do. I am going to sit and down and talk to everyone in the community."

Burrell—who is not a Housing Authority resident—said she received a call from the governor's office to see if she was interested in the position, and immediately answered with an enthusiastic "yes."

Burrell, the governor's appointee, will take over from board member Dominic Lisa, whose term has expired.
