Mayor Dawn Zimmer will kick of "Hoboken Stop Stigma Week" at noon on Wednesday, as she will proclaim Hoboken the first "Stigma Free Zone" in the country.
The Hoboken Stop Stigma Week means to increase public awareness of issues affecting those afflicted with mental illness, as well as the people who love them.
Part of the ceremony will include a dedication of signs that will be posted along the entrances to the Mile Square. Hoboken High School students recently entered a mental health essay contest. The winner of the contest will be announced on Wednesday too.
