Hoboken Charter School Classes Canceled for Rest of the Week

The school is still looking to finalize a temporary location for the almost 200 K through 8th grade students.

Classes at the Hoboken Charter School will be canceled for the rest of the week, said George Cahn, a spokesman for the school on Monday afternoon.

"School administrators and the Board have narrowed down the viable options for interim space and hope to make a decision very shortly," Cahn, also a parent of a student at the school, wrote in an email, "with the goal of getting the kids back into class next week in an environment that won’t compromise the service-learning program."

The almost 200 Kindergarten through 8th grade students were displaced from the school building at 713 Washington St. on Thursday, after a fire broke out and did significant damage to the building.

The students may be moved to the trailers outside the Wallace School and some other students may be housed at the Brandt School, but no official announcement was made as of Monday afternoon.

No students were injured in Thursday's fire.
