Hoboken Police Arrests Alleged Bank Robber

A 25-year-old Jersey City man tried to rob a PNC bank in Hoboken, according to police.

Hoboken police arrested 25-year-old Angelo Viola on Thursday morning after he allegedly robbed a PNC Bank in downtown Hoboken, police said. 

After allegedly robbing the bank around 8 a.m., Viola went in the direction of the PATH station and got into a cab, according to police. Hoboken police located him in the back of the taxi, with $1,722 in cash.

Viola, a Jersey City resident, was charged with robbery and terroristic threats, police said.

Police said that Viola passed a note to the teller that stated he was in posession of a handgun. No gun was recovered.
